Expressway networking based on DPT technology

For the needs of expressway wide area network transmission of multiple media, the working principle and technical characteristics of DPT technology were analyzed using a comparative method, and the DPT technology was specifically applied in the engineering practice of expressway networking. To address the needs of expressway wide area networks to transmit multiple media.

Therefore, it has become an inevitable trend to establish a wide area computer network for expressways and construct a business information system for highway traffic.

1 How DPT technology works

DPT (Dynamic Packet T ranspo rt, dynamic IP optical fiber transmission) technology uses a new mechanism to directly transmit IP packets on the optical fiber, and its MAC layer address uses spatial multiplexing MAC addresses. Spatial reuse protocol (Spatial Reuse Protocol, SRP) is a MAC layer protocol that has nothing to do with media, and can be used on various physical layer technologies. A typical usage is to form an SRP ring with two reverse optical fibers, each of which can be used to transmit data and control signals in the opposite direction. Its working principle is shown in Figure 1.

In order to distinguish between two rings, one may call one inner ring and the other outer ring. When SRP is running, data is sent in one direction (downstream), while control signals (upstream) are transmitted on the other fiber in the opposite direction. The two fibers control each other, so there are two upstream and two downstream streams. In this way, SRP can maximize the use of optical fiber transmission bandwidth. At the same time, since the control signal is not disturbed by data flow (such as queuing, burst congestion, etc.), it can be transmitted quickly, thereby providing a guarantee for further optimization of bandwidth and high-speed self-healing of the network.

Due to the media-independent nature of SRP, DPT technology can operate transparently on various existing important fiber infrastructures: bare fiber, wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), or SDH point-to-point or ring. The media-independent nature also enables DPT to run in a mixed environment of the above media, thus providing a solution for a smooth transition to a pure IP optimized fiber network.
