Huawei Fan Lifeng: NB-IoT opens the "golden age" for commercial scale

On August 16, 2017, at the 2017 China International Internet of Things and Smart China Summit held by IOT, Fan Lifeng, vice president of Huawei operator BG MarkeTIng, published the "Golden Age" for NB-IoT to open commercial scale. Keynote speech. He made a wonderful sharing of the three major development trends of the global Internet of Things, the global deployment of the NB-IoT network and the six application scenarios of NB-IoT technology, and won the applause of more than 700 audiences present.

IOT is leading the industry in innovation and change

Fan Lifeng pointed out that market research from Vodafone Global shows that the results of interviews with 1096 corporate executives in 17 countries around the world are three major trends: 1. More and more companies are deploying IoT services, and 60% of enterprises are using or The IoT business will be deployed. The data for the first three years is 12%, 22%, 36%, almost doubled every year. 2. More and more companies are budgeting for IoT, and 24% of companies are investing in IoT this year. Business, which is related to cloud, mobile communications and big data. 3. More and more companies are getting return on investment from IoT business, and 63% of companies deploying IoT have achieved significant return on investment. 24% of the companies brought 10% of business growth from IOT.

Progress in global deployment of NB-IoT networks

Fan Lifeng said that in 2017, 30 countries around the world will commercialize more than 40 NB-IoT networks. In 2018, one network in the world can be expected to form.

Let's first look at the progress of the domestic NB-IOT network:

The three major operators of China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom won the IoT business segment this week on August 14, and the obstacles for operators to develop the NB-IoT IoT business on a large scale were cleared.

1. In May 2017, China Telecom has built an IoT network consisting of 310,000 NB-IoTs. China Telecom's first batch of NB-IoT field tests in 7 provinces and 12 cities, such as Jiangsu, Shanghai, Guangdong, Henan, Fujian and Zhejiang, have completed commercial or commercial trials. Since July, operators in Sichuan, Beijing, Hunan, Hainan, and Gansu have announced the official commercialization of their next-generation Internet of Things NB-IoT.

2. On August 9 , 2017, China Mobile released the 2017-2018 cellular Internet of Things (mainly NB-IoT and eMTC) engineering wireless and core network equipment design and feasibility study centralized procurement tender notice, estimated engineering costs up to 39.5 billion yuan. In addition, China Mobile also announced the tender for the 2017-2018 narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) antenna centralized procurement project, estimating the total purchase of NB-IoT antennas totaling 1.11 million. China Mobile's chairman said that China Mobile will launch the construction of mobile Internet of Things (NB-IoT) in 346 cities by the end of 2017, indicating that China Mobile will exert its strength in the construction of IoT network infrastructure.

3. On May 15th, China Unicom announced the trial commercialization of the NB-IoT network in Shanghai, bringing scene applications including intelligent parking, intelligent fire protection, and intelligent water services. At present, China Unicom has launched the NB-IoT pilot in more than 10 cities including Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Among them, Shanghai Unicom, as the bridgehead of NB-IoT in the Unicom Group, has built the world's largest NB-IoT public network in February this year.
