However, the current application of MiniLED and MicroLED applications faces some difficulties, including yield and cost.

Q: Dr. Zhang Xiaofei, Chairman of Gaogong LED: Does MiniLED and MicroLED have any influence on general lighting, including special lighting? How to influence? What changes will happen if there is an impact?
A: Zhou Mingjun: Whether it is MiniLED or MicroLED, it mainly focuses on display applications or backlights. In fact, there is no specific mention of lighting. But looking back, the display is to be seen by the human eye, and the human eye is very sensitive. There are many problems that need to be solved. We used to think about it. If MiniLED and MicroLED are used in lighting, there is a chance. From the perspective, it is not completely absent.
Xie Zhiguo: I think that MiniLED will come very quickly. One is on the display, and the other is on the large-size TV backlight, which can break through 75 inches to 100 inches. At present, OLED still has the limitation of cost and yield. There is also a mobile phone. In terms of backlight applications, MiniLED will be industrialized faster, and MicroLED is still in the research and development stage.
Just like flip-chip technology, the application in the field of lighting is very mature, but from the chip process to the patch process, although the technology is very mature, some problems such as yield are not solved very well.
Mary: I heard a saying that MicroLED may have some applications in the car light, because it peels off the substrate, the application of the lamp, it needs to shine straight forward, without the need for side lighting, with MicroLED There may be advantages, and the brightness of the MicroLED will be higher.
Q: Dr. Zhang Xiaofei, Chairman of Gaogong LED: At present, OLED research is crazy in the mainland. MicroLED competes with OLED. When will it enter a stalemate?
A: Zhou Mingjun: Whether it is MiniLED or MicroLED, its real competitor is OLED. However, when MicroLED and OLED enter a stalemate, it is difficult to make a reservation from the current timetable. A Korean company believes that MicroLED will be used in handheld devices or on TV in 2019, but even so, the number will not be large by 2025, especially on mobile phones, which is the biggest challenge for MicroLED.
Q: Dr. Zhang Xiaofei, Chairman of Gaogong LED: Dr. Sun, you just talked about it too comprehensively. In fact, you can talk about two points. The first point is on the side, and the light guide can be used to increase the light efficiency. ? What is the second point in the application of filament lamps?
A: Sun Zhijiang: High-end general-purpose lighting, including some color-color lighting scenes. The required light source is a distributed light source, and the current drive density is not large. In this case, a substrate, even a flexible substrate, is widely used, such as a flexible filament lamp, and flip chip is a relatively common application on a flexible substrate. From this perspective, our C-series products are still positioned at the high-end, especially for applications such as smart, health, and scene lighting.
Whether it is the post-illumination era or the new lighting era, lighting has gone through the initial alternative lighting applications and entered maturity. Some special requirements in application, such as smart lighting and healthy lighting, are still being explored and understood, but how to meet these needs from the perspective of light source is what we are exploring.
Q: Dr. Zhang Xiaofei, Chairman of Gaogong LED: What do you think is the price reduction for chips and packaged devices in the second half of this year? What impact will it have on the downstream?
A: Zhou Mingjun: There should be a hard fight in the second half of the year. We are seeing an increase in production in the upper reaches, and we are facing considerable pressure. We estimate that the second half of the year may be a bit harder. But I think it may really lead the industry to enter the shuffling stage, which is not a good thing for the whole industry.
In addition, everyone will enter the market more, but the number is small, these niche markets can't digest new capacity. Therefore, enterprises must first stabilize their positions in the Red Sea market and then develop the niche market in the Blue Ocean. In summary, there will be two changes in the industry: one is to enter the shuffling stage, and the other is to enter the differentiation market.
Sun Zhijiang: Chip prices should fall, and now it is also in the process of falling.
Xie Zhiguo: We hope that the upstream chip will hold on, not to cut prices, which is not good for the entire industry. The entire market has limited capacity unless another new estuary is found. If the MiniLED rises rapidly, it will consume some epitaxial wafers and chips, which is what you hope to see.
Mary: LEDs account for a high percentage of the overall cost of the display. Now that we are developing into MiniLED, we definitely hope that the price of LED devices can be reduced, because the price of MiniLED is relatively high, especially red LEDs. How much can be reduced, or whether the entire MiniLED display industry can start.
Zhou Mingjun: If you really want to get the whole industry up, the upstream chips must have reasonable profit margins, and of course, the downstream applications should have good costs. Therefore, for Jingyuan Optoelectronics, many plans have been launched internally. In addition to the improvement of efficiency and yield, the biggest aspect is to reduce costs. In fact, the biggest cost of MiniLED and MicroLED is in the latter stage, including classification, sub-bin, testing, cutting, etc. If the cost of the latter stage can be solved, MiniLED and MicroLED should be able to promote the application quickly.
