Before the micro-step conference, at the end of July, Yidao, Hampoo and other solution providers had held a press conference to launch their own Intel BayTrail-Entry quad-core tablet solution. The Intel BayTrail-Entry platform is the first 64-bit processor for Android and Windows systems and is ready to support Google's 64-bit Android system.
At present, the Intel BayTrail-Entry platform has two chips, the Z3735F and the Z3735G. The difference is that the Z3735F supports 64bit DDR3L, while the Z3735G only supports 32bit DDR3L. At the same time, the Z3735F/G can also be pin-pin upgraded to Z3736F/G. According to Intel, the Z3736F/G belongs to the high-frequency version of the Z3735F/G, and the frequency can be as high as 2.1GHz.
Compared with the previous BayTrail-T V0 series, the BayTrail-Entry platform has been greatly streamlined based on the original specifications (22nm process, 1.33-1.83GHz clock speed, Intel Gen7 GPU). At present, the number of PCBA components has been reduced from the original 750 to less than 450. Power management chips have also expanded from the original Rohm family to local power management solutions such as TI, IDT and xPower. And it can realize PCBA completely single-sided layout and support 6-layer board.
Overall, the overall manufacturing difficulty, production cycle and cost of the new BayTrail-Entry platform have been greatly reduced compared to before. Coupled with Microsoft's policy on license fees for small-size tablets, Windows tablets really have a chance to compete with Android tablets.
Microsteps fully enter the tablet market
Microsteps have always been built on the Intel platform, but it was only last year that it entered the tablet market, and the first is the Android tablet solution based on the Intel Clover Trail dual-core platform. In comparison, the Android market has entered the micro-step late, but with the increase in micro-step investment in the tablet, its Android tablet solution is now very mature, and many domestic brands have adopted it.
Compared with the Android platform, Windows products should be the strength of microsteps, because microsteps have accumulated 14 years of experience in this area. However, last year, Weibu did not choose to enter the Windows tablet market. The reason was that the price of the Windows tablet at that time was too high, and the advantage compared with the Android tablet was not great. There are four flat product lines currently planned by Microstep: In addition to the previous low-end Clover Trail dual-core Android series products, the BayTrail-Entry series, which is now ready to push, is positioned at the mid-to-high end. Intel's quad-core 3G series products are positioned at the high end, while the ultra-high-end positioning is based on the Intel Core M series two-in-one product.

Microsteps currently have a total of 44 tablet solutions based on the Intel platform. This number is a bit scary!

In the electronics manufacturing industry we are in, it is impossible to talk about the quality and advantages of price.
In the end, Mr. Huang Jianxin, the chairman of Weibu Electronics, also gave us a surprising answer: $27.99! That's right, this is the quotation of the PCBA for the micro-step Intel quad-core solution. You know, four months ago, the micro-step S78B based on the Clover Trail dual-core platform 7.85-inch tablet solution is also $26.99.
Although Microstep Huang did not elaborate on the specific configuration of the $27.99 Intel quad-core tablet solution. However, after the meeting, the author and the micro-step senior confirmed that the $27.99 is the Z3735G 1G+8G solution. And unlike the last time, this offer is no additional conditions.
