In recent years, due to the rapid increase in the number of cars and the complex and ever-changing road conditions, traffic accidents have been in a state of frequent occurrence, and traffic accidents caused by blind spots and dead angles have frequently occurred. Not long ago, CCTV reported that there were many child traffic accidents in Jiangxi, Zhejiang and other places during the summer vacation. The cause was that the driver could not see the children in the right front of the vehicle when turning right, the reversing radar of the traditional car and the rear. The sight glass simply cannot help the driver to fully observe the situation on the right front of the vehicle, especially the blind spot below 1 meter that children may enter.
"People are paying more and more attention to the safety performance of automobiles. How to help drivers completely eliminate the dead ends and blind spots in the driving process, reduce or even completely avoid the accidents that have occurred. It is already a hot research project for automotive electronics industry." Wang Yun, senior manager of the semiconductor marketing department, stated his point of view at the 2013 China (International) Automotive Electronics Forum held in Beijing recently. "However, even though some mid- to high-end models have installed panoramic driving assistance systems, 9 of them actually Most of them are 2D imaging technology, and still have large limitations. They can only be used as reversing images, and they are not able to give the driver a comprehensive and clear judgment during driving."
Figure 1: Wang Yun, Senior Manager of Fujitsu Semiconductor Marketing, speaks at the 2013 China (International) Automotive Electronics Forum.
In particular, Wang Yun introduced the Fujini Semiconductor's 360° panoramic 3D driving assistance system OmniView technology to help drivers eliminate blind spots and effectively meet the challenge of driving safety. It also introduced Fujitsu Semiconductor's mass production and the latest generation. The 3D graphics SoC platform solution has sparked a hot debate in the field of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for 3D panoramic imaging technology.
The world's first 360° panoramic 3D video imaging system
Fujitsu's OmniView 360° panoramic driving assistance system can be regarded as the world's first driving assistance technology for realizing 3D panoramic imaging. It is based on Fujitsu's many years of technology accumulation in the imaging field, through sophisticated software algorithms and powerful hardware platforms. The 360° full-angle seamless display of the surrounding body image can help the driver to easily grasp the wide-angle scene outside the vehicle visually, thus effectively ensuring driving safety.
Figure 2: Fujitsu OmniView 360° panoramic driving assistance system supports freely changing viewing angles
Wang Yun said that the OmniView system allows the driver to grasp the scene outside the body by synthesizing images captured by four or even six cameras mounted on the vehicle on the three-dimensional model, while the system supports freely changing the angle of view to ensure the driver. Appropriate angles to observe the vision of the driving scene, timely detection of people and objects around the body, including, as far as possible, to avoid traffic accidents caused by the driver's blind spot.
Figure 3: Comparison of traditional 2D imaging with Fujitsu 3D video imaging technology.
Conventional 2D imaging technology, because the camera image is projected on the two-dimensional plane of the traditional system, can only display the top view image seen from above, and sometimes it is difficult to determine the nearby vehicles and pedestrians; especially the portrait, because of the angle of view, The portrait appears as a planar image of dots and shadows (as shown in Figure 3), which makes it difficult for the driver to distinguish and increases the risk of driving. In contrast, Fujitsu OmniView 3D imaging technology projects images onto a three-dimensional surface, making it easier to identify with a close-up image that freely changes the viewing angle and the desired portion. With multiple cameras mounted on the front and rear of the car body and high-definition image processing functions, the Fujitsu OmniView system can display 3D stereoscopic images of vehicles and pedestrians around the car body. As shown in Figure 3, the driver can clearly judge the vehicle located by displaying the image. The location of the person at the left rear.
Figure 4: Fujitsu's unique “bowl-like†panoramic image stitching technology.
Fujitsu OmniView 360° panoramic 3D video imaging system uses a camera facing the front, rear, left and right to capture the surrounding image, and synthesizes the 3D model of the environment through image stitching technology to form a “bowl-shaped†panoramic image as shown in Figure 4, which is displayed from any angle. The surrounding condition of the vehicle body enables the driver to obtain various information around the vehicle body in an intuitive manner, thereby improving driving safety.
Wang Yun also stressed that Fujitsu has made comprehensive and in-depth optimization of the OS operation interface of the driving assistance system. The system startup speed is less than 3 seconds, and the delay of screen acquisition and display is only 30ms, which can almost achieve the image and body on the display. The actual environment is synchronized. At present, the common Win CE or Android operation interface on the market is slow to start, and can not meet the real-time display and high-speed startup required by driving safety, and the OS operation interface of the OmniView system is more humanized and more suitable for the driving safety system.
