TDK will mass produce all-ceramic solid battery Murata in 2018, and the solar trap will follow suit

TDK recently announced that it has developed the world's first all-ceramic solid-state battery "CeraCharge" that uses small SMD technology for charge and discharge, and is expected to begin mass production in the spring of 2018.

According to official news, the CeraCharge measures 4.5×3.2×1.1mm, the rated voltage is 1.4V, the capacity is 100μAh, and the number of charge and discharge cycles can be more than 1000 times depending on the conditions.

CeraCharge uses a ceramic solid electrolyte that does not present a risk of fire, explosion, electrolyte leakage, etc., and uses a laminate technology similar to laminated ceramic capacitors (MLCC), which is higher than current lithium-ion batteries. Energy density and smaller volume.

According to TDK, CeraCharge can increase capacity and voltage by paralleling and series connection, and can be applied to various applications such as IoT components, wearable devices, real-time clocks, Bluetooth beacons, and energy harvesting systems.

Nikki Industry News reported that TDK will use the Austrian factory to produce CeraCharge, with a monthly output of 20,000 to 30,000. Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Taiyo Yuden, which are also engaged in MLCC business with TDK, are also conducting research and development, and the target is put into the market around 2019.
