The robot market is exploding. The growth of Chinese robots has a long way to go.

From the beginning of robots in people's lives, to quickly become consumer products, into the ordinary family, in 2016, "robot fever" led the explosive growth of the robot products on the market.

The robot market is exploding. The growth of Chinese robots has a long way to go.

Currently, at least 48 countries in the world are developing robots, 25 of which are involved in the development of service-oriented robots. China's R&D in the field of service robots started relatively late compared with countries such as Japan and the United States. However, with the support of the National 863 Program, China has carried out a lot of work in service robot research and product research and development and achieved certain results. China's service robot industry has developed well in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Zhejiang, Shenyang, Harbin, Guangzhou, Jiangsu, and Xi'an.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to November this year, China's industrial robot production was 64,000 units, an increase of more than 90% over the full year of 2015. In just five years, China’s robot manufacturing companies have grown by nearly 3,000.

In 2013, the Chinese market sold nearly 37,000 industrial robots, surpassing Japan to become the world's largest industrial robot market. However, the market is not occupied by local companies. Local companies account for only 4% of the Chinese industrial robot market. In the field of industrial robots, four companies in KUKA, Germany, Fanuc, Yaskawa, and ABB in Switzerland are far ahead, and they are dubbed the “four big families” of robots.

According to relevant data, the domestic multi-joint robots sold a total of 6,225 units in the first half of the year, accounting for 32.3% of the total sales of industrial robots, and the proportion continued to increase. Among the four components of industrial robots, the cost of the robot body only accounts for 22% of the total cost, while the cost of the core components of the robot, such as the reducer and controller, accounts for nearly half of the total cost of the robot.

The core components determine the performance, quality and price of the product. Experts pointed out that the key components rely on imports, resulting in the cost of domestic robots lacking a competitive advantage in the international arena.

In China, due to the inferiority of technology accumulation, humanoid robots lag behind countries such as the United States and Japan. At present, robot research in universities such as Harbin Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University, and Shanghai Jiaotong University is well-known in China. In terms of enterprises, well-known robot companies such as Xinsong are still offering industrial products, and there are no human-shaped products of human form.

In terms of software, the gap between Chinese technology companies and Western countries is not as large as hardware, and many practical artificial intelligence products have been released. Among them, Baidu, the largest Chinese search engine, has recently caught up in image recognition and recruited some artificial intelligence experts like Wu Enda and Yu Kai. Earlier this year, Baidu also claimed that the recognition error rate was already lower than Microsoft and Google. Another Chinese technology company, HKUST, is undoubtedly a leader in Chinese speech recognition. With the development of smart phones, HKUST launched the voice input method and voice assistant on the mobile phone. Prior to this, the company's text-to-speech technology was put into use during the Beijing Olympics. Compared with American companies, local enterprises have the advantage of national emotion and policy support in Chinese speech technology, and have taken the lead in China's artificial intelligence research.

Who needs a robot

In addition to industrial robots, in terms of domestic service robots, R&D and manufacturers are mainly targeting three customer groups.

The first is the children's education products, which are aimed at children aged 3 to 15 years. The products include intelligent early education, child care, education and teaching, etc. The other category is for home users, including pension, smart home, smart wear. Etc. There is also a category of commercial robots for public service places, including smart security, business welcoming, cleaning, catering, and leading services.

Tianjin Zhisheng Wanli Technology Development Co., Ltd. is a company specializing in sales of service robots. When talking about the current robot market, Mr. Fu Zheng, the general manager of the company, said that Zhisheng Wanli chose the service robot as the sales agent's main product, mainly because of the current market demand. As a robot manufacturer, a huge part of the money and energy are placed on the product development and manufacturers, marketing and promotion are the shortcomings of these companies. As a user, the information and technology of the robot market are not very well understood. As a company with more than ten years of marketing and promotion experience and channels, we have seen that the information at both ends of this industry is not equal. We use our own strengths to build a bridge between enterprises and customers. For the current domestic robot market, Fu Zheng also put forward his own views. He believes that in the next two or three years, the domestic robot market will reach a high peak. After the peak, it will face a new product replacement. The market will have a downturn, and after the new product replacement, it will be another peak in the Chinese robot market. period. The length of this replacement period depends entirely on the degree of development of domestic technology in the future.

For the current demand for home robots, Mr. Fu Zheng is optimistic about the pension market. He said: According to the current demand survey of the robot market in our team, the future home-age robots for the elderly have great market prospects. This is not only because of the current aging problem in China, but also reflected in the fact that the supervision and care of the elderly in China is one of the important issues of the family. For the double-employee family, the children basically do not have too much time to visit and care for the elderly in both aspects. Even our investigation of some nursing home institutions has this problem. Many children, even if they send the elderly to a nursing home, hope to see and understand the situation of the elderly anytime, anywhere. The old-age robot is meeting the needs of people in this respect.

Zhisheng Wanli Technology's current position is to build a collection platform in the robot market, and strive to integrate the current domestic advanced service robot products on its own platform. In the future, in addition to the integration of existing robot products, they will also be horizontally integrated with manufacturers, using the core technology of each manufacturer to customize customized products that meet customer needs.
