The survey was conducted in April and May 2012, using an in-depth telephone blind interview to interview about 375 healthcare managers from the United States, Western Europe, Asia, and Latin America. All qualified interviewees are senior decision-makers in the healthcare supply chain of the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical equipment and supply chain industries.
88% of Asian policy makers are very concerned about global expansion in the next three to five years, 77% of respondents said the primary investment strategy is to strengthen the use of new distribution channels, and 71% choose to invest in new technologies.

As part of UPS's healthcare strategy, UPS noted the growing demand for healthcare in China and India, the two most populous countries, and regarded them as the major potential healthcare market in Asia. Lin Meiqin said: "China and India are the fastest growing healthcare markets in Asia, and the regional headquarters of several healthcare companies are located in Singapore. In Asia, 72% of managers regard legal compliance and product damage and deterioration in the healthcare supply chain as another important concern, and 70% of managers are more concerned about product safety.
