2GB DDR3 memory prices are down to $20 at the end

After experiencing substantial price cuts, the decline in the DRAM market has not seen any improvement. Sources from DRAM makers said that due to weak market demand, the price of 2GB DDR3 memory is likely to decline further, and the futures price at the end of the year may be Fell to 20 dollars. By then, the 1Gb DDR3 chip will approach the one-dollar mark and Taiwanese manufacturers will face a loss.

Sources said that the average price of futures for 1Gb DDR3 chips had fallen to $1.53 at the end of October, reaching a minimum of $1.50; 2GB DDR3 memory prices were at $26-27, continuing to fall by 10-15%.

South Asia Technology said that even if the price of 2GB DDR3 drops to 25 US dollars, it still has room for decline. South Asia Tech currently ships 2GB DDR3 memory at $28-30, but they are concerned that the price may continue to fall as demand declines in November.

Memory makers pointed out that the current market has a conservative attitude towards the purchase of memory, and the DRAM market in the fourth quarter is not expected to show much improvement. However, OEMs are interested in increasing the memory capacity of their products.

The excessive production of memory chip suppliers has caused the price of 2Gb DDR3 chips to drop rapidly, and higher-density memory chips will fall to US$2 in the fourth quarter. This figure is slightly higher than the cost prices of South Asia Technology and Hua Ya Technology.

Powerchip and Regent Electronics have reduced their cost to $1.30 due to the use of 63nm process technology to produce 1Gb memory chips. Ruijing also plans to upgrade its half capacity to 45nm, at which time the price of 2Gb memory chips will drop to $1.50.
