Famous Chinese architect Liu Hongdian

Liu Hongdian (1904-1995)
Mr. Liu Hongdian, the word Liewu, was born in 1904 in Kuandian County, Liaoning Province. He graduated from the Department of Architecture of Northeastern University in 1932 with a bachelor's degree. Later, he worked as a technician in the Architect's Office of the Shanghai Central Construction Committee. During this period, he was awarded an architect certificate by the Ministry of Industry. From 1936 to 1939, he worked as an architect at Shanghai Bank of Communications. From 1939 to 1941, he worked as an architect at the Shanghai Industrial Bank's head office. In 1941, he founded Zongmei Architectural College in Shanghai and concurrently engaged in architect business. From 1947 to 1949, the Dingchuan Construction Engineering Division was established to implement the architect business. After the founding of New China, he served as the second-level professor of the Department of Architecture of the Northeast Institute of Technology, and also the director of the teaching and research section and the design school of the school. In 1956, he served as the first dean of the Department of Architecture of Xi'an Metallurgical and Architectural College (now Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology). He has served as a council member of the first, second and fifth sessions of the Chinese Architectural Society, a member of the textbook review committee of the Ministry of Construction and Industry, and a member of the Scientific Research Review Committee of the State Construction Commission. He is a recipient of the National Special Contribution Expert Grant. He also participated in the Encyclopedia of China. • Architecture, gardening, urban planning, the compilation of large-scale dictionaries such as “Art of the Forest” and “Local History of Shaanxi Province”.
His main architectural works include Shanghai Central Swimming Pool, Shanghai Central Library, Fuzhou Bank of Communications, Nantong Bank of Communications, Hangzhou Bank of Communications, and Shanghai Nanjing West Road Meiqi Building. Shanghai Hongkou Chinese Hospital, Shanghai Huaihai Zhong Road, the gardens of different styles of independent villas. Northeast Institute of Technology campus general graphic design, Northeast Institute of Technology Metallurgical Museum, Changchun Branch Teaching Building. Shenyang Institute of Technology Mining Hall, Huainan Mining Area Thermal Power Plant, etc.
He also presided over the Huashan Scenic Area and several city planning councils. Participated in the reconstruction of Bingmayong 2nd and 3rd Pit, Shaanxi Provincial History Museum, Linyi Guiyuchi, Guangzhou Amusement Park. Xi'an Railway Station, Xi'an South Street Widening Project and other design proposals.
Mr. Liu Hongdian died in Xi'an in 1995.
