Global private cloud Huawei will be king

Recently, Forrester released the latest global private cloud software suite Wave report, which identified nine of the most important software vendors for classification, research, analysis and scoring from among the 40 private cloud providers that included the global evaluation criteria. In the first place, Huawei was short-listed and became the “Strong Performer” of the global private cloud market. It is also the only Chinese manufacturer to enter the Forrester wave global private cloud software suite report.

1. Private cloud software suite is welcomed by more users

In a survey of 748 global hardware decision makers, Forrester found that 67% considered high-priority to build an internal private cloud and 43% (38% last year) considered purchasing cloud technology. Moreover, 51% of enterprise users build their private cloud primarily through pure software investments, 12% use only open source software, 18% use existing infrastructure and automation tools, and 13% purchase converged hardware and software infrastructure solutions. So the private cloud software suite is still the most expensive model for private cloud deployments.

Forrester therefore decided to evaluate and analyze the private cloud software suite vendors in the market, and the corresponding inclusion criteria, that is, the supplier should have: "self-service interface and access control access", "infrastructure configuration capabilities" Management capabilities of resources, users and services, "resource monitoring and tracking", "provide a unified interface to the outside world", "release available before July 1, 2015" and "more than 100 customers worldwide".

Of course, we also need to filter according to product type, customer success stories and so on. In the end, Forrester identified nine of the most important software vendors for classification, research, analysis, and scoring from among the 40 private cloud providers included in the standard evaluation, including BMC software, Cisco, Citrix, HP, Huawei, IBM, and Microsoft. Red Hat and VMware, it's clear that even without the rigorous methodology, these lists are quite representative from the list.

2, Huawei "service support" score ranked first in the world

Forrester's "Global Private Cloud Software Suite" report evaluates private cloud providers in three dimensions: Current offering, Strategy, and Market presence.

Each of these will be subdivided and given different weights. For example, product competitiveness will be subdivided into “cloud infrastructure services”, “integration and API”, “support services”, “pricing”, etc. According to the weight score of each sub-item, each score is obtained, and then according to the scores of strategy and product competitiveness as the coordinate points, and the market performance score is defined by the size, the following figure is obtained.

As can be seen from the report, Red Hat, VMware and so on have entered the private cloud market with more accumulation, which is the market leader. As the only domestic company selected, Huawei is based on OpenStack's FusionSphere software. Report; Forrester believes that Huawei is the global private cloud "Strong Performers", providing business decision makers with a competitive choice to deliver the most solid solutions with the highest level of service support.

Among them, the FusionSphere cloud computing virtualization software platform has achieved high scores in network service support, automatic service provisioning, workflow design interface, and service support, and Huawei is the only one that can ensure response time in the evaluation, and the service can be upgraded to the site. Supporting vendors such as SLA service metrics, the score in the "Service Support" category ranks first among vendors.

3. FusionSphere that helps enterprises truly enter the cloud

FusionSphere is a cloud operating system product launched by Huawei for multi-industry customers. It is based on OpenStack architecture and integrates virtualization platform FusionCompute and cloud management FusionMnanger.

The earliest FusionSphere is aimed at the virtualization layer and solves the virtual pooling problem of resources, resources, and other resources such as computing, networking, and storage. In September 2014, Huawei officially launched FusionSphere 5.0, which deeply integrates the OpenStack architecture (Huawei became an OpenStack Gold member in 2013) and built a more complete software-defined data center capability (including software-defined storage and software-defined networking). (etc.) and stronger management automation capabilities, and can support the commercialization of telecom services (NFV, network function virtualization).

Correspondingly, FusionSphere not only stays at the virtualization layer. The entire system is designed and optimized for the cloud. It provides powerful virtualization functions and resource pool management, rich cloud infrastructure service components and tools, and open API interfaces. The customer level integrates the physical and virtual resources of the data center and vertically optimizes the business platform to help users truly enter the cloud from traditional IT and achieve true cloud transformation.

As of the end of December 2015, Huawei Cloud Computing has more than 500 enterprise-level partners, more than 10,000 public cloud applications, development and service partners, serving more than 2,500 customers in 108 countries and regions, covering the government and Public utilities, telecommunications, energy, finance and other industries.

In order to make cloud computing widely available at the fastest speed, Huawei has invested 10,000 people in the IT field and 6,000 people in the cloud computing field. Moreover, Huawei has been actively participating in the construction of OpenStack and is committed to building an open cloud computing industry ecosystem.

With such input and strength, it is natural for Huawei to get Forrester's approval on the private cloud software suite.

4, the ranking is expected to rise

In fact, in February 2015, Forrester Wave has released the latest private cloud report in China. Dadian.com also reported that Huawei has been listed as Forrester Private Cloud Wave China by Strong Performers, ranking No.1 in the market.

However, it is only in the Chinese market. This time Huawei is short-listed for Forrester's global private cloud software suite wave report, and is the only Chinese manufacturer. As can be seen from the latest reports, Huawei's private cloud software suite scores higher in network service support, workflow design interface, and support services. This is a deep deposit with Huawei's network products and service providers, and has begun to focus in recent years. Open APIs have a lot to do with creating an ecological environment.

But from a lower score, Forrester scored relatively low on Product Vision, Market approach, and Number of customers. From the perspective of the reporter, it is a place worth discussing.

We know that FusionSpher is a very important part of Huawei's entire cloud strategic product system. Together with FusionCube, it forms the cloud computing solution FusionCloud. From the perspective of the upgrade of FusionSpher, Huawei's positioning and development direction for FusionSpher is very clear. It is necessary to help enterprise users realize real cloud transformation through product rich and improved, so it should be very clear in product vision. .

It is worth noting the market approach and the number of customers, because the report is aimed at global customers, and while Huawei is rooting in the domestic market, it is also expanding its influence on the international private cloud market. In addition to serving more than 2,500 customers in 108 countries and regions around the world, Huawei has deployed more than 660 data centers around the world, including 255 cloud data centers, laying a good foundation for good service support and further expansion. Therefore, from these two aspects, Huawei's score on the private cloud software suite will have a lot of room for improvement.

So, in summary, from Forrester's report, we can see that Huawei's position as the leader of the private cloud market in China has been recognized by all parties and has begun to emerge in the global market. As a leader in domestic cloud computing companies, we hope that Huawei will be able to enter the ranks of Leader in the next year's report.
