It is precisely because of these characteristics that semiconductor lighting is recognized as the most promising high-efficiency lighting industry in various countries. However, China's LED has entered a relatively mature stage in landscape lighting, screen display and other applications, but its application in high-power LED lighting has just started.

Wang Mengyuan analyzed that the reason why LED high-power lighting is difficult to popularize is mainly high cost and high price. At present, LED white light can reach an illumination of more than 100 lumens per watt, which can meet the functional requirements such as indoor reading, but the price is 3 to 8 times higher than that of conventional lamps.

"The main reason for the high cost is that the raw materials, epitaxial growth equipment and core technology for the production of epitaxial wafers are in the hands of foreign companies." Wang Mengyuan analyzed that at present, most of the LED manufacturers in China are in the packaging and application fields downstream of the industry. Domestic enterprises can compete with foreign companies on the upstream core of R&D, and the cost will decrease.

According to statistics, in 2009, the output value of the national LED industry reached 82.7 billion yuan, of which the application value in the lower end of the industry was more than 60 billion yuan, and the key components of substrate materials, epitaxial growth and chip manufacturing involving core technologies, domestic enterprises. Only created an output value of about 2.8 billion yuan.

"In addition to LED epitaxy and key technologies for chip manufacturing and key equipment relying on imports, the lack of talent will also become a weakness that constrains the development of the industry." Wang Mengyuan said.

At present, China's semiconductor lighting industry talents are extremely scarce, and high salaries are not hired. Without cutting-edge talent, it is impossible to break through the core technology, and even the introduction of the core production equipment will not operate.

Fortunately, in May of this year, Guangdong Zhaoxin Enterprise Group Co., Ltd. independently developed and manufactured the first domestic semiconductor lighting chip core equipment, which means that the long-term domestic dependence on imported LED chip manufacturing equipment will be broken.

After successful production in the future, it will break the monopoly of such equipment, which has been monopolized by US, German and Japanese companies.
