Maxim Integrated introduces a deserializer that supports four panoramic video signal streams

China, Beijing, July 28, 2015. Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX9286, a GMSL four-channel deserializer that enables the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) surround system design with fewer components and less time. Only one MAX9286 Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL) deserializer is required to receive and automatically synchronize video signals from four cameras.

Maxim Integrated introduces a deserializer that supports four panoramic video signal streams

The surround system is a key component of today's growing ADAS design. The MAX9286 deserializer accepts and synchronizes video signals from four cameras over up to 15 meters of shielded twisted pair (STP) or coaxial cable, making it ideal for automotive applications. The MAX9286 outputs data to the video processor via a 4-channel, industry-standard CSI-2 interface. The device replaces four discrete deserializers and one FPGA, significantly reducing board area and component count. In addition, this highly integrated deserializer eliminates the need for additional camera synchronization software. The MAX9286 is also ideal for machine vision and 3D camera systems.

Main advantage

Shorten the design time: automatically generate the camera synchronization signal, align the image data of multiple sensors to the same pixel, and realize the user programming of key parameters. The above functions effectively reduce the design risk and speed up the product launch process.

Reduced costs: The integrated solution replaces four discrete deserializers and one FPGA, significantly reducing board area and component count; it also supports coaxial cable power, reducing cable count and cost.

With diagnostics: On-chip diagnostics improve system integrity and detect link error rate (BER), camera out-of-sync, and cable-to-power/ground short-circuit faults.

Evaluation

· Maxim Integrated Business Director Balagopal Mayampurath said: "The demand for surround vision in automotive applications poses a challenge for ADAS design. This product simplifies the design of the first generation of surround vision systems and enables seamless integration with next-generation systems. ”

Supply information

· The device is available in 56-pin, 8mm x 8mm TQFN and QFND packages.

· Operates in the temperature range of -40 ° C to +105 ° C.

· Certified by AEC-Q100.

· Provides an evaluation board with a SoC processor and an ADAS reference design developed with partners.
