Color Kinetics has secured another licensing agreement, and its products have been selected to illuminate the store of the future exhibit. Color Kinetics has signed a global licensing agreement with Lamina Ceramics, a manufacturer of LED light engines based in Westhampton, NJ. Lamina will have Access to Color Kinetics complete patent portfolio to continue the development and sale of its products worldwide.
Lamina offers multiple lines of LED light engine and driver OEM components directly to third-party manufacturers and through a network of distributors. Lamina says that its components power the LED lighting fixtures of more than 100 companies.
The agreement will allow Lamina to offer its customers a licensed solution that incorporates features of digital intelligence, such as additive color mixing through DMX control.
Lamina customers who develop fixtures based on the Color Kinetics-licensed components will be covered under Laminas license as well.

LED systems from Color Kinetics have been selected to bring dynamic, customizable effects to the X07 Store of the Future -- an 11,000 square foot exhibit at the 96th annual National Retail Federation (NRF) Convention & Expo.
X07 is intended to showcase the look of future retail spaces while promoting green design practices, such as the use of energy-efficient lighting. According to the US Department of Energy, lighting accounts for 59% of total electricity use in retail and service buildings.
X07s creator and architect Richard Russo, President and CEO of Hybridia Design chose a combination of Color Kinetics white and RGB lighting systems to demonstrate how LED technology can meet the decorative and functional lighting needs of retailers who seek innovative ways to distinguish their spaces while mitigating energy Costs.

Surveyed cited shoppers cited an increase in mood and quality of time spent in the store when color lighting was applied.
