U.S. Forces Worried About Failure in AI War

According to foreign media reports, the US Department of Defense recently issued a new report that the United States needs to “act immediately” to accelerate the development of AI war technology. In terms of AI and automation technology, American academic and private research has far surpassed that of the US military. The report stated that the future AI war is inevitable and it is suggested that the Pentagon strengthen development in this area, otherwise it will be overtaken by potential enemies.

The U.S. Department of Defense used artificial intelligence and automated mechanical systems as its national defense strategy. The U.S. military has begun to use drones and other remote control operating systems on the battlefield, but these need to remotely control the machinery. The latest report pointed out that if humans cooperate with automated machinery, they will have more advantages than traditional remote control operations. For example, a large group of "automated flying drones" in the combat zone interferes with enemy communications and monitors the combat zone in real time, and automatically attacks the enemy based on the situation.

We are not sure whether the Pentagon officials will adopt the proposal, but the US military has reason to attach importance to it. The report reminded us that American opponents have "more relaxed" policies on deadly automation hardware, such as "killer robots." Although the United States does not have to be like an opponent, it still needs related technologies to fight against the deadly AI system.
